hi guys my predicament is this , i am with f2s who are now part of the talk talk group iv been paying £20.41 for a 8mb uncapped service for a number of years but due to the distance of exchange iv been only getting 1-1.5 mb . we have a fttc unit which has been connected and my next door neighbour is getting switched on in 2 weeks .so

do i go for bt infinity at £28 unlimited+£10 line rental with 3 months discount broadband +phone.

or talk talk are offering a talk talk plus at £27.39 for a 24mb package -not sure if this uses fttc as no mention of it ?
my son dloads films a bit and uses iplayr/xbox so i wondered if bt are going to tick the boxes for me or do i wait for other isps to come on board:confused:

Google says TT fibre not available until mid-April.

One thing I'm certain of is that they don't refer to it as FTTC or FTTP, instead calling it the "Fibre Boost" which adds an extra amount to your monthly payment.

The talk talk deal quoted to you sounds like the normal ADSL+2 package which means that you speeds wont increase by much as you are still far from the exchange. To get higher speeds you need to switch to FTTC

Simple solution, explain to your son the difference bettween wrong and right and then get the cheapes broadband you can lay your hands on as it will be fine for your legal needs based on what you've said above.

I have a long line with a attenuation of 63db, with ADSL2+ I was lucky to get 2mb & dropped connections, sometimes several times a day.

Got my isp Be, to change me over to ADSL1, now getting 3.6mb & it's been rock solid for 6 days, not a single dropped conection.

What exchange you on, out of intrest?

And why pay TT £27.39 for a 24mb package, when you can bearly get 2mb, I'm sure Talk Talk isn't doing fttc yet.
Forget fttc for now, give it a few months & see what other isp's packages become available, it's still early days for fttc.
Remember if you sign up for BT fttc, it's a 18month contract, which for me is too long.

My exhchange has fttc, but I'm holding out for a few months, to see what isp's come up with.

I'm on adsl2 and my exchange is near the limit of exchange so hence the poor dload speeds . bt have put in the fttc box approx 400 mtrs from my house and my neighbour being a business customer is getting connected in the next 2 weeks . talk talk sent me an email last night after i posted stating that fibre would be rolled out in April but have not advised me as to the cost. i have heard bad reports about tt who have taken over my isp f2s so i dont know what to do - go for bt or wait and see what tt or other isp,s come up with. bt seem to be the cheapest and the other isp,s charging a lot more but i am champing at the bit to get fibre and faster broadband .

Big Red, my advice is to wait.

A number of isp's are looking at fttc, Sky,TT, & others.
I'm with Be,who are also looking at it, but no anouncement yet.

BT Infinity looks good, but the contract is too long, give it a month or two, things will be a lot clearer by June in my opinion, so be patient.
