Oil cooling!!!

I have been running chilled water for some time and sick of all the condensation all over my rig. So this is the BIG Q has anyone ever tried oil cooling?





P.S
O also i will use my cooler to chill the Oil.
 
how're you planning to cool the oil - run it through radiators? You'll still get condensation on them, though no risk of water damage to the electronics I guess. Sounds interesting, though no doubt a lot of work.
 
Are you looking at submerging your parts in oil (sound's rude :eek:) or pumping the oil around.
 
If you submerge your PC in chilled oil, you'll still need to ensure that's it is air tight, otherwise you'll still get condensation forming and ending up in the oil, worse than that the oil will almost certainly be less dense meaning that the water will sink down to the bottom and stay there.

You'll also end up getting condensation forming on the outside of the case, mean soggy carpets/wet desk.
 
i read a fasinating article a few yrs ago about submerging the rig in a fish tank filled with some kind of oil from a vetinary surgeon. the oil was clear i if i remember right was used on cattle/horses! they had it running no probs - i was tempted to follow suit myself

Jokester: I have already sorted that problem with my res. I have lagged it to death, would just be the same as the tank. plus wet desk is better than wet 5970

Morph: i have seen that mate :) looks good PSU and everything is in there on their build.
 
^^ that takes me back - there were a couple of those kicking around - worked well, but I did laugh when one of the builders mentioned that even having sealed the case, anything that was below the level of the oil was liable to fill up over time, something they discovered when the mouse started leaking... :p
