We’ve just bought a 2012 Ford KA to replace our Mini Cooper S and I still have quite a lot of Motul Specific LL-04 5w-40 oil left over.
I‘m wondering if I can use this in the KA which specifies 5w-40 oil, but with Ford’s accreditation rather than BMW’s. The Motul oil still meets ACEA C3 which is specified in the KA’s handbook, and mileage will be less than 2,000 miles between 12 month changes anyway.
What are your thoughts?
Cheers.

Mrs has an 09 plate 1.4, petrol Mk7 Fiesta.

When she first got it it uses to be serviced by the garage and I noticed throughout the year I needed to top the oil up, a little, but noticeable.

When I started servicing it I made sure to get the Ford specific oil and after using that the oil level remains over the 12 months.

I suspect the garage was putting a more generic oil in. That being said it did/still runs absolutely fine.

Good thing is my Volvo also has a ford engine and uses the exact same specification oil so quite handy considering I service both myself, same oil filter as well actually.

Thanks chaps. I’ve got about 9 litres of the stuff left, so be good to be able to use it. Mind you, at 2.5 litres per oil change, it’ll last a few years!

As long as it’s the same C number, it should be fine. Apparently, you shouldn’t mix c numbers though, i.e. dont put C1 instead of C3 etc.

2.5l per change ? I wish! My change today was 9 litres.
