With his immanent release pending, I can't help feeling this guy got away with murder. Only 7% of Americans think he is innocent. Personally, I always thought he was guilty for the murders. He was acquitted in 1995 of the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Despite this I think he did it. He had motive and he had access. Now he'll soon be free. One thing for sure is that I wouldn't want him as my neighbour.

Dam right, who would want someone with so much press attention and haters queued up round the clock at their door as a neighbour.

Wonder how much goading and poking it'll take before he stabs someone.

There is a VERY good film\documentary on this; O.J: Made in America. I was 16 when he was acquitted, and so wasn't really aware of the details of the original trial, and the backdrop to it - I.e., racial discrimination and police brutality for the previous 40 years in L.A. The film was enthralling - it's about 7 hours long! in 4/5 parts.

Can't recommend it enough.

The Robbery he was actually jailed for was something and nothing to be honest - even the lawyers said it was a 2year crime soaking wet. It's fairly clear that the 30+ he was handed down was punishment for the miscarriage of justice in the murder trial.

I actually hope he finds some peace.

That documentary is amazing, like you I was relatively young at the time and had no idea of the backdrop to it all, as you say highly recommended.

I see there is a thread on Reddit today asking people if they would like to see OJ on the Joe Rogan podcast. (This has not been posted by the JRE podcast just a listner).

I am in two minds, I want to hear what he has to say and Rogan can be a great interviewer. But on the other hand you're not going to get a confession out of him and he has had years to perfect his BS story. Someone somewhere will give him an interview you can guarantee that.

Serving 9 out of 33 years isn't bad going...

Though on the news they said he didn't get a single infraction whilst inside, which they said for the prison he was in was unheard of as they 'write you up' for the smallest and simplest of things

As ever, Family Guy has all the answers.

LOL love that scene.

I didn't really know much about the whole story until I saw that series, 'The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story'. It was a very good show, some big actors in it too. Unbelievable that he got away with it. The whole thing seemed like a fiasco.

I was in my 20s when he was tried for the murders. Sensational case; real made-for-television drama, with a highly complex background.

He's served his sentence for the robbery. Just let him move on with his life.

But he is still the main suspect in the murders of Nicole Simpson and Ron Goldman. It's pretty clear he got off on a technicality. No one else had motive and no one else was ever implicated in these murders. I think as a cold case file, it should be reopened and he should be put on trial again. Maybe with todays forensic techniques and a fresh look at the available evidence, something overlooked may surface and prove his guilt.

Would that not come under the protection of double jeopardy?

He was found "guilty" of the deaths in a civil court.
In a civil court you don't have to prove anything.

In a civil court the families of the victims of the Itavia Flight 870 bombing managed to sue their country's defense ministry (and win) based on a newspaper rumor that a missile had caused the crash lol.

His son was, hence the popular theory that he deliberately implicated himself knowing he would be able to get off in order to divert attention from him.
