Death Star or Mount Doom, it depends on the day.
Hmmm... I do feel a tad silly asking this. But here it goes as I genuinely don't know.

I applied an OC to my mobo many moons ago when I bought my 9900k to about 5.3ghz I think (I followed a guide online). However, on review of my system details and on boot up, my cpu speed reads as standard clock speeds. Is this normal?

It depends, (if you mean something like task manager) then fixed overclocks are more common for benching, for example, but not common for 24/7 usage.

The detail panels in Windows are usually reading from the CPU, so this text will not change (e.g. 9900K @ 3.6 Ghz).
