I need to setup a wireless network for 2 pcs in my house and my lappy but want my main pc still hardwired as I use it for gaming.

Ideally I'd want Cable modem to my PC directly then others connected to mine via wireless.

Would I be able to connect a wireless router to my PC and use my PC as an internet gateway and just use the router as a network hub?

If so what would be the most ideal router for the job?

Wireless routers also have wired ports. Plug the cable modem into the router, and then plug the PC into one of the LAN ports. No need to connect the cable modem directly into the PC.

What are the wireless routers like for gaming?

Wired routers I used in past were always a pain in the proverbial for gaming due to hardware firewall hence why I'd prefer main rig to bypass the router if possible.

Won't be any different. A wireless router is just a normal router with a built in wireless access point so it would be the same in this respect. I think in the end though it's going to be much easier to just set up port forwarding on the router.

Suppose best thing todo is buy a router and jus play about with it.

Suggestions on what router to go for?

Prefer one that isn't a pain in the ass to configure.
