Connected yesterday and connecting at about 11,500kbps, and seem to be downloading on tests around 8,500->9,500kbps...

Will be trying to up this though if I can... I was hoping to get around 13,000kbps...

ps: Tried using both the BeBox and my Netgear DG834Gt router, and they were the same...

People telling you what they get won't make any difference. You are limited to speed by the "Last Mile" copper BT line and the distance to your exchange. If your synched at 11.5mb but downloading at 8ish i suspect that's your maximum. You may see a slight speed increase if they drop your line down to 10mb for synch, you might be able to max it out then.

co-incidentally im getting exactly the same

connecting about 11.5meg, getting just over 8meg downloads depending on server.

thanks for the tip about a 3rd party router, i was wondering if it was worth upgrading the bebox, somebody said they could sync higher with it.

Just interested what people are getting :)

I'm about 1.69km from the exchange...

www.samknows.com

Then availability checker and Locality. For reference i'm estimated 15mb if i switch to Be at 777m Straight line distance. Sounds about right as i max out my 8mb LLU from F2S

1.5km as the crow flies

but i know my line length is going to be a lot longer than that due to the way our streets are spread out.

I'm getting 12 meg,

mate dont use speedtest.net, I cant get that over 9meg ish, and i've tried both servers closest to me, i get 9 meg down on london ( sometimes ) and 4 meg on that other one.

Downloading from sites thou, I always get the full wack, 1.1 - 1.2MB/s.

It seems that the lower your downstream attenuation figure (mine is 37), the better your ADSL2+ speed should be.

In simple terms what is your "downstream attenuation"?

eg: http://www.dslzoneuk.net/maxspeed2.php

Attenuation.............Approximate Line Length............Potential Connection Speed
32db...................................2.3km.....................................16000kbps
35db...................................2.5km.....................................14500kbps
40db...................................2.9km.....................................11800kbps
45db...................................3.2km.......................................8500kbps
50db...................................3.6km.......................................6500kbps
55db...................................4.0km.......................................4500kbps
60db...................................4.3km.......................................3200kbps
65db...................................4.7km.......................................2000kbps

I am 1.3ish km from the exchange as the crow flys and i sync at 13.5mb
if i use my test socket i can sync at 15mb :) but its not like i will ever use the test socket! :)

i can download at 1.3-1.4 max but its got to be a fast server.

i sync at 1.3mb down as well

its good enough for me i can almost stream 720p trailers with out a wait from quicktimes site which is nice! role on HDTV over the internet

Yeh, so seems my attentuation is a little high given my distance from the exchange... I'll keep an eye on it and see what Be have to say out of interest...

The lower your attenuation, the short the cable to the exchange. If your noise margin is above 6, you could get Be to lower it to 6 and that'd give you a little bit more speed.

Connecting your router to the main BT socket will also help, try not to use any extension wires to your router.

I think, this is just a think, i'm not 100% sure! :p Some routers might give you a lower line attenuation. My old netgear gave me 37, and the Be Box gives me 41. But the speed difference in that is like 300 - 500k, basically nothing to me.

yea my attentuation is 33 as well, so yours is a little high.

but it could all be down to BT's good old copper wires that are playing with you?

have you tryed using the test socket on the master socket? just to see what you could get if you took out all the house wiring

how to HERE

just plug it in to that socket you can see behind the face plate and see what you can get!

my attenuation is 33.5

SNR 6.5

but im still only syncing at 11.5mbs while plugging directly into the master (and only) socket without extensions.

umm >.O

You should be getting a little faster than that..

I dont know how much of a difference it would make, but are you using the included RJ11 modem cable? You can get ADSL+2 mega ultra speed cables ( lol ^_< ) that might make a difference.

I don't know if the weather could effect the speed.

Other than that, i'm out of idea's

Just connected today to Be* after orange said the max speed my line could take was 0.5meg...

Im syncing at 15.5meg
downloading at 13meg

att 29.5db - 1km crow fly line

Will tweek soon with new faceplate etc

Been downloading off uTorrent all day at 1000kbs steady! Been as high as 1400's but I capped it to 1000kbs.

dont cap it, crazy fool!

I'm due to be activated on the first. One site says I should get between 6-10meg. Be said 9meg and I got told 7 meg from a Be forum member
