it is fun :) i have played it in safe mode which runs fine as all the advanced features of the Gcard are dissabled. but come into a fully powerd graphical environment and youl have no such luck. :(

been running it for 5 minutes now,

gpu draws between 8 and 15 amps,
fans at 27%
voltage regulators 74oc
gpu is at 63oC
pcb at 55oC
no artifacts,

everything is as normal as it can be...

a quick update... after working on this for 3 hours ive found that by turning off the ATI hotkey poller the flickering log in screen has now gone. unfortunatly the crashing with office and flash based website remains, ive tried them in both fire fox and internet explorer with no luck, i get a blue screen error after about 30 seconds.

so what do you want us todo , you dont seem to have the patience to send it back and wait for a replacement because you only have 1 gfx card ,
whats the big rush to not have a gfx card for a couple of weeks?

Probably completely unrelated, but what mobo do you have? I have an asrock dual sata2 and had a bsod problem with office. Turns out it was 1T command rate on my ram, everything else worked fine. No artifacting though.

Try the card in another machine. If it still doesn't work then RMA it.

You can pick up a temporary card to see you over for a fiver from the bay.

The fact is it's an expensive card, and if its faulty you should get it replaced. End of.

locutus stop faffing about and RMA the card... now. It doesn't matter how new it is or that you don't have another one, the card seems faulty and it needs to go back asap.

Buy a cheap-arse video card from MM or an auction site in the meantime to tide you over.

last time i heard about someone cahsing in office apps and flash based sites it was command rate related on the asrock boards. if 1t command rate is unstable then in occie a simple copy/paste would crash the machine and so would flash based sites.

ive changed the burst rate from 4 to 2 and so far it seems to be holding... now ive just got to hop that annoying flicker on the windows log in doesnt come back... but for now it appears both the gremlins are sorted. god i would have felt a right tit if i had of sent the card back :(

Hooray for Mav... glad I was wrong in this case I would never have thought of a fault specific to Asrock like that. :D

neither would i... its very odd...

although i seem to have developed another problem in that my 3d clocks are not kicking in... :/ i think its because i dissabled the ATi hotkey poller, the problem is if i enable it i get the dumb ass flicker at the log in screen. damned if i do, damned if i dont.

ah well, i suppose i can live with the flicker so long as the system is stable.

to test for command rate stability, the asrock board is very sensitive to memtest86+ v1.65, test number 8. loop test 8 for around 10 passes. but if your unstable at 1t it will usually crash out in under 4 passes wit loads of errors.

this was the main reason why i went for 4 gigs of ram. with 2 sticks of ram i was not able to run a 1t command rate cuz the board is fussy. so i thought sod it and just deck the board out with 4 sticks of ram. and i know for a fact that no board other than that certain ati board will run 4 sticks of ram at 1t command rate.

when i have owned any product e.g the asrock board i usually push it to its limits and try to find as many faults as possible. easier for the next person to glide through them next time.

all asrock board stuff is documented on the ocworkbench forums.
