i bougth the abit quadgt mobo(put the last beta bios, before u ask), with a 6600 and a pair of ocz 6400 platinum.
since yestarday ive been trying many overclocking config. the best i can get is
3060 mhz (using arctic colling freezer 7)
bus speed 340mhz
fsb 1360
ram 425 mhz 4-4-4-15 2t and voltage set to 2.1
but was adviced to increase the fsb more equal to ram frequency.
Did that decreasing multiplier to 8 at bios, but to my surprise when star windows and use cpu-z to check config, in idle stays the multiplier 6X, but when i start to stress the system jump to multiplier 9X!!!!!
can somebody explain me that? why always stays on the fly, is it normal? and why dont stay on multiplier 8?(i never had pentium, so is a newbie question)
tks guys and sorry for my bad english.

Set the cpu multi in your bios to 8 and not AUTO.

Disable C1E/ speedstep.

another question, do u have same mobo? should i change my ocz 6400 for the ocz 8500 sli ?

No I don't have that motherboard nor do I have any experience of Abit boards. The symptoms you were getting however are similar to what a lot of folk are getting that are new to intel/conroe. The stickies at the top of this page are a great help when first ventruing into overclocking an intel platform.

As for the OCZ then I would only switch out your 6400 sticks if you belive they are holding you back. You will get more bandwidth from the 8500 sticks and they are less likely to hinder your overclock especially if you like running them 1:1 with your FSB.

Good Luck :)
