ok opty here how about this

Hmm, you are doing something wrong here mate.

I had the exactly same board, a worse stepping cpu, but BH-5 ram which ran 2-2-2-5 at 200mhz.

I found the sweetspot of this poor clocker (CCBWE0551VPMW) to be like this:

As you can see I was giving the max v_core the A8N-E can produce, yet temps are below 50 with the stock cooler. Have you tried upping the v_dimm?
That stepping you have is known to hit 3.0ghz with the stock air cooler.

I suggest you play around some more :)

temps have settled down abit so I'm ready to push for 2.9 or 3.0 just ram dont seems to like 133 divider when on the x9 mulitpler ???

well i will have to settle on 2700mhz ram at 225mhz using the 100mhz divider sits at 57c full load

bloody mb wont do 133 divider :(

still not bad OC really , i have had chip at 2.9 wanted 2.8 really dam

is the stock cooler better that a freezer64?

this ram be ok ?

hmm im not familiar with the Asus 939 boards, do they not have the option for a 120/140/150 divider?

Also before ordering one of these i've been experimenting with the other dividers with my current rig and sure enough the 133 divider was a no go until i tweaked some DRAM settings. Again i dunno if you have access to these settings with the Asus board but i'll list them anyway..

Data Drive Strength 3
Max Aysync Latency 8ns
RW Preamble 6ns

My 165 should arrive next week and so long as i can get one of the 120 to 150 dividers to work i should be ok

i can get 133 to work but not with 9 multipler :(

Didn't want to make a new thread, but I've got a CCBBE 0615EPMW on its way. A shade over 100 quid she was, should be a nice one :) Will make a thread when it comes.

whats is the max temp I should be hitting with this OC ?

Don't go over 55 at load. Most will say that's too high anyway.

While we're at it, how long have you been stability testing it for?

The only things I can think of is either you did something wrong with the thermal paste, or the HS is not fitted properly.

As you can see from my screen on the previous page my chip was at 1.5v with the stock cooler, stock thermal paste, and not going over 45 degrees.

Then you're using too much.
Maybe he's used it on lots of cpus? I've still got some AS5 from about a year ago but that's finally getting low. I see your point though, only need a tiny amount, think a grain of rice size.

The IHS (the metal top) might be concave, or not touching the core properly. You can see how flat it is when you take the cooler off. To check the contact you'll have to cut the IHS off  (see the sticky :) )
