ok opty here how about this

Why not try the Stock cooler? Could be your custom HS that is not up to scratch?

For reference: What is the rest of you spec?

Do you have decent airflow? How many fans? What case? What graphics? How many harddrives?

These things affect ambient temps a lot, which affects CPU temp.

Hi guys i know this is very slightly off topic but ive struggled to get an answer n u seem like the guys i need. I just had a opty 170 CCBBE delivered and i want to know a couple of simple things before i start.
1. Do i need to reformat from my opty 146 or can i just change the relevent bios settings and put it in? and my main question- Have u guys used any extra dual-core specific drivers like the dual-core optimiser on the amd site? or this dual-core hotfix ive read about? ** help would set my mind at rest as ** getting the kind of results im looking for. cheers guys.

You can just stick it in. XP will update to multiprocessor machine.

You don't need any patches. Only need the amd patch if there are problems, usually it will just make things worse. If it aint broke don't fix it :)

For example, I needed to install it as I'm running a virtual machine. Strange things happen without it.

Thanks joeyjojo, il just change the cpu volts and speeds in the BIOS to the right levels, power off, swap the cpu over n cross my fingers.

Make sure you set your htt divider downward to keep the htt link under 1000MHz, I noticed in one of the screenshots that it was just over 1000...this can hold the overclock back.

The 133 divider not working it quite annoying - I've got this problem too, but on an epox mobo...just locks up as soon as xp loads instantly. :(

I can't seem to get any overclockers over 2.8GHz prime small fft stable on a 133 divider no matter how high the vcore or how much I play around with RAM timings etc

A common problem. My expert/geil love it though. On a 125 divider now for 3ghz. Will be pushing it at some point. I did have 3.1 at one point (silly volts though).
