Ok, should this now run BF3 half well?

PC as sig below, but just ordered this 8bg ram kit (thanks OCUK!)

http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-094-KS&tool=3

And bought a second hand 5850 to run crossfire.

Will be running at 1980 x 1080.

What setting should I be hoping to run BF3 on? Med/High??

Hi i am thinking of running on a similar setup and going amd even a 955 and getting a 560Ti with the same ram , i have come accross this from Nvidia http://uk.geforce.com/optimise/guides/battlefield-3-beta-performance-guide it shows what settings you should be looking at , considering cf-5850`s i think its safe to say you should be high if not ultra . I am slighty dubious of the hype that claims you need a 1k machine to get ultra gfx settings as what better way would you generate sales and generate income in a time of recesion but by releasing the most anticipated game ever .

I say this as the cpu recomended is a quad core which is why i am looking at the 955/965 as it will be able to run it fine also ask yourself 60fps is a great looking game so why do you need anymore yes a gtx590 will run at 100fps but when the action is so intense will you be looking at the infinite details off the tree you have just blown up .

in essence i would say your pc is more than capable of maxing the gaming and not to read to much into the hype of system requirements and benchmarks that mean bugger all as they always use the biggest variables ie milliseconds instead of full seconds as it makes more of a impact ,check you tube for gtx460 max hd even they can play the beta very smooth indeed

sorry for the long reply and ocuk prob wont complain about the extra buzz of i need a upgrade to play bf3 i say wait buy the game play it and then upgrade if you need to

happy shooting

I don't think anybody really knows, I think the beta wasn't at its best as med/high/ulta settings all looked the same.. but I would gess med / high would run fine.

... as med/high/ulta settings all looked the same.. ...

At the risk of getting flamed here.... I think this is quite often what happens even in the full release version of a number of games (certainly when comparing the top two highest levels of detail etc.). Maybe being a bit general here with my comment... but when I look at some of the articles on the WEB that show comparison shots (not necessarily talking of BF3 here) I think "that certainly doesn't look that earth shatteringly different". Certainly not that I'd rush out and buy another two, or three 580's for. Though I accept that still shots quite often don't tell the whole story.

To all those people getting in a panic over BF3, why not wait a couple of weeks to see what reviews of the final retail version look like?

;););)

Well, not too long now, I was reading mixed reviews between 4gb vs 8gb, but after I sell my ram, it will only have cost me £20/£25 for the 8gb, so no brainier.

The 2nd 5850 I decided was pretty much the cheapest route now to get the most out of the game without spending silly £££.
