ok so i have a 22" widescreen...

just wondering if i could run games in 800x600 and just have black at the edges of the screen instead of the image being stretched, and get the fps of an 800x600 res.. (on CS:S) rather than 1680x1050.

how about running in windowed mode? normally any option in the config files
