I’m going to upgrade my system and ordering this Monday.
I’m getting this fast Intel Core 2 Duo 6600 2.40Ghz really cheap :) from my mate as his going Quadro.

Now that’s the only part I’m getting from him.

All I need is motherboard, 2GB of memory, cpu cooler/heatsink and some quite 12inch fans.
I’ve got 74Gb raptor + 250 sata, dvd-rw, Lian-Li PC-7 PLUS, Hiper 580W.
I know I should upgrade my 6800GT but there is just soo many 8800 that I don’t know which one to go for.
I might just use credit card and get new graphic card as well.

So far after reading this forum I’ve decided to go for

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard - £99.99
£117.49 inc VAT

GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) - £99.99
£117.49 inc VAT

Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler - £29.99
£35.24 inc VAT

Zalman ZM-F3 120mm Silent Case Fan - 3 Pin - £11.00
(£12.92)

Total : £257.58

Now I’m not overclocking as don’t know how and its just too much work.
Onboard sound is just perfect for me, I use stereo speakers anyway.
I’ve got dell 2007WFP and would like to play games at 1680x1050.

Please try to make this pc as quite as possible as currently my pc is like a vacuum cleaner, its probably 6800GT and that 120mm fans I bought earlier as well as amd3500+ cooler.

I don’t mint my pc loud while playing games but my pc is loud all the times. This 6800GT never stops spinning.

Thx for all your help.

To save a couple of quid go for the Gigabyte GA 965P-S3. It is the exact same as the DS3 only the DS3 has solid state capacitors. Its £10 cheaper so you may as well get something exactly the same for cheaper :) : Gigabyte GA 965P-S3

thx will consider this one then,
if its same then why overspend,

The DS3 has solid capacitors and will last upto 7 years apparently. Its to do with the lifespan of the components. Though I wouldnt worry about that.

Here is what I would suggest. You would get excellent performance at stock and great overclocking ability also. I have the same RAM and cooler (check sig). For the case fan I would get a Yate Loon, OcUK don't stock them but they are one of the quietest and best fans for airflow inside you case.:

Gigabyte GA_965P_DS3 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £69.99
(£82.24)
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GX22GB6400UDC) £99.99
(£117.49)
Noctua NH-U12F (Socket LGA775/754/939/940/AM2) Heatsink £30.99
(£36.41)

Sub Total : £200.97
Shipping : £8.25
Vat : £36.61

Total : £245.83

£117.49 for a DS3!!!!! I just got a DS3P for only £75. Even OCUK sells DS3's cheaper than that. You seriously need to shop around.

mishima has put up a good selection.

Yeah, very nice selection there. The new noctua 12mm fans have a lot of hype around them at the moment, seem to be very quiet using a propriatory blade/motor system. For more detailed stuff on silent fans, silentpcreview can be quite good (I say quite good because you can get sucked into it and end up spending hundreds on silencing equipment!)
