Well, my Q6600 setup has gone south, in a big way as the psu has blown and the motherboard (at least i reckon, judging my the look of it) and possible the cpu (not too sure on this but have no way to check).

Thing is, I was planning on upgrading to a whole new 2K ish setup, but what do i do? Go for something like the "Ultima Monolith" Intel Core i7 3960X 3.30GHz @ 4.20GHz DDR3 Sandybridge - E System [X79-2011-MONOLITH]. OR wait for the Ivy-Bridge chips at the start of next year? Which will be the most futureproof? Will the one mentioned above support PCI-E 3 gfx cards?

Any help would be appreciated here. Its been 5 hours without my pc and all of the stuff on it and im going out of my mind.

Pics of the mobo etc.

I know its hard to go without all your stuff on your PC -winky winky-

Have you a way to check if your HDDs work?

Ive got no way to check anything. The capacitors on the mobo are blackened, and the inside of the case stinks.

But I was planning on upgrading anyway, but do i go now or wait for Ivy-Bridge to come out with the new gfx cards?

Thats what im thinking, get a heap 650W PSU from my local shop to tide me over untill I can decide which setup to go for either the new i7 3960X and X79 mobo or wait for Ivy Bridge - can anyone shed any light on what will be the best system to go for?
