I posted This the other day ...
Got the new 1950pro today .... fitted .... installed drivers etc ... playing HL2 ... 20 mins in ... computer crashes badly
So .... same problem .... new card ... no fix ... now what?
I've run Folding@Home just now for a good while without a crash....this would imply that the CPU + Memory are good ... and now that i have replaced GFX ... Am i just left with power or Mobo?
I am still thinking heat related more than power and the only thing i notice is that the mobo's northbridge is directly above the back side of the graphics card ... and is passively cooled (heatsink only) .... its a MSI 975x Platinum power plus mobo
The CPU has basically a chimney above the cooler to direct the heat to the fan on the case so i'm thinking CPU heat is well vented and the PC is fine during normal use .... just when playing graphics ....
Would something like this help or should i get a more complete solution and totally replace the heatsink on the northbridge (which i assume will mean dismantling PC totally)
Any other ideas?
