Hi,
I have been buying up some 2nd hand bits with the aim to kinda upgrade my computer.
Current:
AMD 64 4000 SD (not oc, @2.4)
Asus A8V Deluxe Mobo
2GB Geil PC3200 RAM
X800 Pro GFX Card (AGP)
Sat on my shelf:
AMD X2 4200 (Would like to oc but not sure how with x2's)
Abit AN8 Ultra Mobo
My aim is to go dual core and PCI-Express graphics.
Few questions:
1. Cases - I really like the Antec P182, but with a new PSU, its adding up. So looking at the Antec Sonata III with the PSU. Any idea if I will fit in a new gfx card and a HDD cooling fan?
2. HDD - The usual things are important, speed and backup - will my system slow down much if I mirror the drives and play games?
3. GFX - My budget is about 100-150, is there any point going to the top of the budget - 3870 or 8800GT, or will my system hold it back, should I look towards the bottom of the budget and get a 3850? Would the Abit AN8 Ultra handle a new GFX Card?
Aiming to spend about 300, need to get new case, sata 2 hdd(s), thermal compound, gfx card.
Any comments appreciated, thanks.
Edit: I game on a 17" monitor at 1280x1024. Tempted by a widescreen, not sure yet, maybe in a few months time.
