Hi,

I have just purchased a dvd drive bay caddy for a 2nd hard drive. My laptop is a Dell Inspiron n7110. I am going to be away for a while and thought i could take the ssd out of my desktop and install it in the n7110.
I was originally looking at installing the ssd where the original hdd is, and putting the mechanical in the drive caddy. However after looking at a guide showing the removal of the installed hdd i would rather not.
So i was just wondering if anyone knows whether it would make a difference if i installed the ssd in the drive caddy and run the os from there?

Thanks in advance,

Phil.

The only difference that would be made is the SATA controller the Optical drive bay uses compared the the standard HDD enclosure. If the HDD controller is better/faster then you want your SSD there instead.

In all likeliness they use the same controller so it makes no odds where you put it really.
