Client machine:

Previously had a Vertex 2E and Samsung 2Tb hdd + HD6950

The board is an Asrock P67pro3 with latest BIOS

2600K Cpu was clocked at 4.6Ghz 1.365v LLC at level 5 (lowest setting on Asrock)

He wanted the 2E (60gb) for his laptop and bought an Agility 3 120gb to replace.

Fresh Windows install and firmware 2.15 shipping.

Now, the weird:

He was having a lot of BSOD 124 and 101 errors with the Agility, i primed it previously with the 2E and it passed 24hrs no problem, however, with the Agility i need 1.38v for the same clock to be stable, and LLC @ 3 at least or prime would fail after 2-4hrs with BSOD.

Reprimed with the 2E and still passes 24hrs with 1.365v and no LLC

Does running a SATA 3 drive that much impact on the cpu?! The 2E was on the SATA 3 controller as well previously, but obviously in S2 mode.

Only thing I can think of before trawling the web and looking at each drives individual specs would be the difference is drive size, there are more electronics that need powering in the A3 over the 2E?

Wild guess tho.

Forgot about this, what i did was replace the 2600k with another that does 4.6 @ 1.35v and it worked at 1.34v in that board LLC @ 3. The other chip oddly enough does 4.8 @1.38v in an Asus board... weird how a chip can differ, the one i replaced it with needed 1.4v for 4.8 but does 4.6 at lower volts lol.
