Right, I bought a Netgear DG834G and have set that up and all is fine as for getting on the internet. it is connected to my computer (PC1) through the RJ45 LAN socket.

Encryption wise I am using WPA-PSK (Wi-Fi Protected Access Pre-Shared Key)

Downstairs I have a wireless music player, that connect fine as well to my router / computer

BUT

I have just bought a Netgear WG311 wireless card for another PC (call it PC2)in the home thats in another room, idea behind it is, to allow it to wirelessly share the internet at times
and more importantly be able to access files / folders on each of the machines from each other (PC1 & 2)

Someone please tell me how to set this up, I have the wireless card in the other pc (PC2) with all the drivers etc. It connects to the internet so thats fine. But how on earth do i set up a network so I can see the files etc on the other pc. ?

I really dont know, i have tried network set up wizard and that doesnt see anything ?

How do i get windows to see the other computer ?

Im new to networks etc and wireless so bear with me.

im using XP Pro on both machine with SP2 installed

Or am I totally wrong and what i have cannot do what i want ?

Forget it, I sorted it, I just get annoyed at times if it doesnt go right first time.

MUST remember, disable firewall and all will be well and it was :p

BTW dont sit a CRT 17" on your sofa, as it has a tendancy to topple over and smash a couple of keys on your keyboard! whoops
