I have that screen for a few years. "ADC" connector (since ditched) and I use it on a DVI card via an adapter. It was £1.5k at the time, and I don't regret it.

It is calibrated regularly, and I use it for development, but also to do photo editing. I noticed that when I desactivate the calibration the image is turning a bit yellowy, and the brightness on my typical '50%' setting is no longer what it was. It's more like 65% now... It's been 4 years, so I assume it's to be expected.

I'm looking for a replacement and/or a second screen to possibly 'take over' as main screen.
One thing the Apple has is that it has almost 180 viewing angle, without shift; horizontal AND vertical; the backlight is perfect even on a 'black' screen.

So is there a reasonably priced screen that can compete ? technicaly the contrast ratio and response time can't be up to what the modern screen do, however I never noticed it to be a problem so maybe I won't care. I just want great image quality; and I don't do games...

plus if you go for the 23" one it's the same panel as is used in the current Apple 23" display. It is however getting a bit long in the tooth compared to the newer 24" ones, so if you can put up with the larger dot pitch a move to 24" may be a good one.

Thanks for the recommendation guys. I think I would prefer a small dot pitch, For image editing/displaying I find it more pleasing..
Anyone has seen both of these screen (23, 24) together ?

I had a reply to my question to Hazro asking about these two screen, and the rather knowledgeable answer came back saying that both panels were equivalent -- no real gain on the 24; and that indeed, for photography purpose, the 23 will be superior due to it's smaller pixel pixel pitch.
Here goes :-)

Not quite true, look at the specs, the 23" has a higher refresh time leading me to think it has no (or very little) RTC and is thus an older panel. Would love to be proved wrong however.

Picture quality wise they will be identical, same tech, same panel manufacturer, same gamut.

Well after some hesitations I just ordered the 23" in black bezel, I shall report in details on how it compares to my "oldies but goodies" Apple panel.
