still running one of these and some AIO cooling.

Any point in overclocking these today or is it more of not much gained due to temps etc?
Anybody recommend a good tutorial / settings to start with.

Running X570 mobo
7900 XT

<insert let me google that for you meme here> There are tons of overclocking guides and help on the internet out there. </insert let me google that for you meme here>

A simple voltage offset would help for one.

Definitely some gains to be had
In all core overclock
Probably not in single core
So depends what sort of stuff you're doing with it

My 5950x single core boosts to 5050mhz
Can barely push it past that
All core boosts to 3900mhz but I can do 4.5ghz
Think was similar when I had 3900x single core not much
To be gained but multi core there was headroom

There's more than one way to do it Though
Tweak edc,ppt,tdc
Set offset
Increase voltage
Just enable pbo
Curve optimiser

As jollyjamma said these have been around ages
The Internet is full of overclocking guides for them

Its worth it. This is my 5950x at this moment all cores.

I did the set 4 best cores etc as described in the thread directly in my bios. works a treat for that cpu so I'm sure you can get plenty out of that 5900x

The thread on reddit was https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/krxqq4/5950x_curve_optimizer_settings_and_benchmarks/

You'll need to find a guide that works well with your CPU but maybe some pointers on that link as food for thought.

Yeah, It will drop after a while to around 4.6ghz all cores IIRC but I haven't looked in a long time at this.
I might have a read of what you linked
If anything can severely overclock a 5950x
It's going to be my beast of a motherboard
It's got bios options I have never even heard of before
And been building computers
For a very long time
Don't really do anything nowadays that would require 4.8ghz +
On all cores
But might give it a try just out of interest
I know the guy i got the motherboard from had 4.7ghz all core
On it though my cpu could be better or maybe worse sample

That's a nice wee OC. Going to be plating around a little myself with almost the exact same setup. Cheers!
