Hey all,
I've just bothered to update the drivers to the newest catalyst ones, but when I restart the desktop won't let me go above 4bit and a low resolution (640*480 iirc).

Can anyone help me here, i've got the drivers that came with the card, just trying to figure out what the problem is because I was hoping of selling it when I get my upgrade this week.

TIA! $

IIRC, there is a problem with the .inf file that comes with the CAT6.7 drivers identifying cards wrongly. Not sure if the 9600pro was affected in that but it might be your problem.

//edit, it was a x1600xt that was incorrectly identified..

I would recommend you uninstall the drivers, use drivercleaner to get rid of any remnents, then re-install the 6.7 drivers again.

Thanks for the reply :)

I've just got the original drivers that come with the card installed and i'm running ati tray tools to check for artifacts, just to make sure, and it hasn't found any artifacts left.

Thanks so much for that, I didn't try it on here as my 7600gs arrived today. But I take it round to my friends house, and when I intalled it like normal CS: S and HL2 wouldn't run properly, but using that program really helped :D

The cat drivers also installed properly :D
