Old AV amp with new 4k TV

Is there anyway of getting access to true HD or MA audio other than buying a new amp when playing from a uhd source.

The most I would be able to get via optical out or arc via the TV will be 5.1 DTS add I understand.

Can a 4k HDR splitter be used? From the Xbox one s then one HDMI to the shop and the other to the TV.

Yeah you can get adapters to split the signal as far as I know. I can't tell the difference between the worlds oldest 5.1 format and the worlds newest latest though it all sounds uncompressed to me.

I can certainly tell the difference between a good dac and the ones they put inside the optical in ports of receivers though.

cheers, might just stick with DTS then until I save enough pennies for a new amp since splitters are about £50, shame two of my bipoles will go unused, have a 7.1 setup
