Old classic pc games that are still playable

I'm young so for me it would be Rome: Total War, Age of Empires 1 & 2, Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds and KOTOR.

Age of Empires
Total Annihillation
AVP
Red Alert
Titan Quest + Immortal Throne
World of Warcraft (even runs on some netbooks at low res).
HL: Counter Strike
Alien Swarm (new steam version is free)
Dawn of War (the original and the best!)

Severance - the best hand to hand combat I've experienced (except maybe Mount and Blade).

I still play worms world party and talking of emulators I play an old Amiga classic (for me anyway) called "Traders" (anyone heard of it?) it is so addictive but crashes like it did on the Amiga all those moons ago

Abandonia - DOS heaven.

This website is great for old classics. I've played a fair few and there is such a depth to certain games, even if just 2D sprites.

To be fair I reckon most good games from 2000 onwards are still playable. So this gives us 1998-1999 to fill:

Unreal
Quake 3 Arena
Unreal Tournament
Motorhead
Carmageddon 2 (bit of a guess but it runs in D3D so hopefully OK)

Corsix-Theme Hospital

Basically an open source remake of theme hospital

You'll need either your original game installed or the demo version available from the authors site but it works pretty much flawlessly on win7x64 just remember to turn your sound down a bit

p.s. don't forget the GOG sticky post if you are into older games, they specialize in them and a number of the titles listed in this thread have actually been repackaged to function under windows 7
