Old Denon amp and HDMI Arc

A friend of mine has a nice new 65" TV and uses a Denon AVR-2310. The connections appear to be correct and he gets surround from the DvD player (via Optical) but when trying to use Netflix directly from the TV, there is no sound through the amp. The HDMI connection is using the HDMI/ARC connection OUT from the AVR to the TV and there is also an optical out connection - but no sound...


Could I get some suggestions please?

Make sure HDMI control is set to ON in the TV menus, then check that any further TV menus to do with ARC and external sound systems are set appropriately.
