Old Drive - Disk 1 Invalid

Hi guys,
Been a while since I've had to deal with this kind of thing.

Plugged in an old drive from an old laptop to get some old data and I get Disk 1 Invalid.

Can anyone recommend some free software to fix or recover the data from it. Just a hand ful of files/folders. Not the end of the world.

Did you plug in directly or use a USB carrier? May work one way and not the other?

USB using a SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable For 2.5”/3.5" Hard.

It wouldn’t boot up in the old laptop.

Does the USB supply enough power? Only a thought.

Seems to, I can hear it spin up.
I think I'll put back in the old laptop, boot off a usb stick and recover that way

Well out the blue it all just booted up ok in the old laptop

get everything you need off the drive before it dies again!

Have done. Will all get scrapped now.
