Old Free Games

Are there any older games (offline play) which have now been released which you can download for free?

Thinking things that I used to play, AOE2, C&C Series inc RA.

Along those lines, PC should easily play some newer games too, I bought FarCry 1 recently and completed that, heard FarCry 2 was a bit pants though.

System is an I5 2.67ghz @ 3.2ghz, 4GB, GTX 260...

IIRC the original C&C games are now free to download, have been for some time.
