I have Half-Life Generation that I've dug out from the bottom of a box of stuff; it installs but won't update, just gives the errror message .......... "Your connection to the internet is invalid. Please check your settings, and try again"
Software probably 6 or seven years old but went in ok.
Running Vista Ultimate on an old AMD FX53 at 2.2 GHz.
I don't want to play ONLINE, just need to update. I read somewhere about WON and STEAM etc but have little idea what they are or even if they apply if not playing online.
Any of you clever chaps/chapesses have any ideas what I need to do? I have sent an email to Steam Support too but that could take some time.
