Old games (RPGS) colours not showing right?

Trying to install some old rpgs, fallout 2, but all the colours are mad and multicoloured and going crazy, had the same problem with diablo 2 too, anyone else had this or know how to fix it?

tried it with 95 etc, it just seized up my computer, now after installing the unoffical patch i get a message saying requires 95 or 98/ME with dx3a or greater.

I dont know how to fix this :/

everythings working now guys, thank you.

Now to try and find the custom res patch, and a guide on how to play the game, seems pretty challenging, wheres the questlog for one, and combat is like turn based i see?
