Hi, i made a most here a few months ago asking how to understand my psu connections. I only just noticed i got answers so thank you to those people, i had not looked back.
I ended up working it out. I was confused with my pcie connections. Turns out the 12 pin connections were the pcie connections while i was looking for 8 pin connections. This is a bit of an anomaly it seems for psus. This is an old seasonic ax850 that was discontinued in 2012.
its two 12 pin connections on the psu each with two separate cables coming from each and leading into a 6+2 connections.
Im looking to get a 3080 and ive noticed and expected it to recommend running two seprate 8 pin connections of more modern psu into the gpu instead of one 8 pin daisy chain cable.
Would one of my 12 pin connection dual cables be enough to provide a 3080 with enough power ? im not sure how well these 12 pin connections compare to two separate 8 pin connections. I had thought of plugging in the other 12 pin and using one from each but considering they are all separate cables im not sure if it would make any difference.
Thank you if you can answer this !
