HI All
No,I'm not kidding.Been building computers for years but have not kept up with what's what for a while.

I am looking for:

Case,no PSU needed,I got a 500watt.
Motherboard,with connector so I can still plug my wireless modem router in.
Processor,probably intel core 2 duo 6600?
2Gig Ram

Already got a BFG 7950 gt 512 meg graphics card.
And will use my current hard drive with XP

Got time to play games now I have retired,and also use Sonar to write music.

Hope that's enough info,have I missed anything?

What spec PSU do you have? ATX 2.0 or 2.1? What type of video card? AGP or PCI-e?

If your PSU is ATX2.0 only and/or you have AGP video card you may have to replace these items too, or you may have to compromise on the types of motherboards you can use.
 
What sort of budget do you have? ByteJuggler is right about querying the PSU though, is it a decent brand?

ByteJuggler, I'm fairly sure that the graphics card is PCI-E based on the motherboard in the signature. :)
 
Computer spec is at the bottom of my post.

PSU is 500W XCLIO X12P2S4 PSU has Sata connectors.

Graphics Card is PCI/E

Don't have a specific budget but, somewhere round £300

Something like this might do, you will probably have to overclock a bit though to gain any appreciable difference over your existing system. Although the Ram is nominally PC5300 a lot of people have been getting significantly more from it. :)

Sorry to say I have never overclocked anything before so would be a bit nervous of doing it?
Reason for upgrading is my Wifes Computer is so old,it won't run any games(Socket 939 1.1Gig AMD),so She can have mine as it stands now,and the new one will be for me.

Quite impressed with the spec,would I get much better if I upped the money a bit?

If you were going to up the budget then this is the next sort of level I'd be looking at to see a genuine improvement over what you currently have because I think melbourne720 is right, the graphics card would make the biggest change. I've included a new PSU because I don't know too much about XClios other than they seem to be a bit budget for want of a better phrase. :)
