Just took this out of my new car as felt like it was starting to struggle when starting. Replaced with a new unit.

This battery looks properly old (7yrs?) - I know Halfords batteries now have a different label design (orange) and I think it's been like this for atleast 5 years.

Does anyone remember seeing this old design and want to guess the age?

Current-ish Halford design - here

4 year warranty so I'd guess it's 4 years and 3 days old :D

I "Think" Halfords use Yausa these days. In which case (Assuming you are not Boeing) they should actually be pretty good!

Having said that, sometimes there is a trade off between life and cost effectiveness (Incandescent lightbulbs for instance) establishing the optimum point and ensuring that the product reliably achieves it within a narrow window is not necessarily a bad thing!

Quick search reveals that logo hasn't been used since 2002. Give a year (being generous) for old stock sales... around a decade, maybe 12 years old.

To be honest, as a youngster I don't see this as particularly long. All the battery changes I've seen have been on cars which are approaching 9-10 years old; my Starlet's battery was 11 years; grandad's Rover 75 was 9 years; dad's Vectra is pushing 8 years and 170k miles and is still on its first as well!

Maybe they've improved the lifespan over the years?

yeah, batterys i have replaced have always been around 10ys. Modern cars seem to start so much easier assume not stressed anywhere near as much (old cars seem to turn over quite a few times, especially in cold)

Hmm the more I think about it it's deffo older than 2006.

Circa 2001 sounds more like it so 10years+ out of battery is ace.

My new Bosch 4yr should last a while.

Cheers for all the input.
