old HP machine

Hi guys, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on this or point me in the right direction.
I was given an old HP computer from work when they were upgrading to windows 8, its a HP Pro 3015 MT. the IT guy in work formatted the HDD so I thought it would be just a mater of reinstalling the OS but every time I try to reinstall windows 7 to it it gets to the loading files screen and hangs, I have tried a few sata hdd's in it but it always hangs :confused:

go into the bios and do a hdd test

Which BIOS is it running? The latest is "5.16 REV. A" according to HP's site, here.

Thanks guys, but how do I update the bios if I cant get it to boot at all ?

You should be able to make a bootable USB stick with DOS on, then extract the files from the sp54083.exe with 7-Zip onto the stick.
