Old(ish) System..Ram Upgrade ?

I have a shuttle system (sn45g) with an AMD Athlon Xp3200.

I have 512Mb of Ram (Dual Channel) Corsair CMX256A-3200LL

Running windows XP.

Will i notice any performance increase if i change the ram for 1 Gig of memory ?

Also do i need to buy a 'dual channel kit' of ram from ocuk or will any 2 sticks of 512mb work ?

you will see a decent boost in games that are ram hungry, will stop any hdd thrashing related lag/slowdown.

best to get the same type of ram for both slots, eg 2 crucial pc3200 512 sticks, doesnt *have* to be a "matched pair" but it could help.

i wouldnt mix and match ram from different vendors/product lines if your DC. its usually fine for SC tho.

worth remembering that DDR1 is being phased out, you might be better served saving for a new cpu, mo and ram.
