old laptop - ram questions

ok - i have been given a laptop to upgrade

i know nothing about laptop memory

taking out the existing chip reveals these specs: 256mb DDR PC2100

can i still get more ram for this? do ocuk stock it?
i assume i cant just use ddr2

Check on the manufactures website, too see what memory is compatible with the laptop.

At a glance I can't see any DDR1 laptop dimms on OCuk but they are still available elsewhere. What you are looking for is 200 pin DDR SO-DIMMs PC2100-3200 - the higher grade memory is often more readily available and cheaper now and should work fine but its not guaranteed.
