Old but worth updating. Windows update no longer works and I have tried some of the solutions on here . no upgrade path to windows 10.
Open to suggestions on what to do next.

Are you having issues with the laptop?

Enterprise versions of windows 7 was not part of the free upgrade to windows 10 (well wasn't when W10 first came out). Is the laptop still joined to the domain at all?

did the laptop come with Enterprise on? check the COA and see if it come with professional\Business or something different as you maybe able to re install W7 with that version and get a upgrade to W10

No issues, but not able to join domain as too old , the laptop is a dell latitude 6500 so nice in its day. no licence key stickers on the machine. Not worth spending a lot of money on but do not like to use with no updates.

I think the majority of 7 users have experienced the same problem, I certainly have. You have to let it run, sometimes for days for it to suddenly kick into action.

There are numerous fixes, search these forums, which claim to work. Some do, some don't. It's probably a number of different issues.

If what is posted above doesn't work just leave the laptop switched on and connected to it's charger to search for updates. A few months ago my old Dell D630 laptop took the best part of a week to search and find updates for Windows 7.
