Crysis.

Back in the day when i had a 9600GT and a P4 930 i bought and struggled to play this game so i ended up selling it on EBay.

... now about 4 years on i thought I'd give the game another chance so I bought it on STEAM. I thought with my 6 core CPU and AMD's fastest graphics card i would finally be able to play the game on maximum settings at 60 FPS+ ... but boy was i wrong! With everything maxed out I'm only getting 20-30 FPS on DX10 settings and 20-40 FPS on the DX9 setting. The game gets very laggy at times.

Which begs the question .. why exactly was this game released in 2007 when (i guess) no system could actually play it as it was meant to be played?

Well Crytek did say that they wanted the game to scale with GPU's for the next 5 years when it was released and it looks like they got their wish, it's still one of the most graphically impressive games today, if I remember at the time Crytek were also saying that the low settings in Crysis were supposed to be comparable to Farcry's max settings, not sure I agree though, I think they expected us to play the game on the lowest settings and up are settings over the years as we upgrade our GPU's but as we all know PC user find it hard to play games on anything but maxed out settings :p

I've got to admit that when the DX10 version runs smooth at max settings the game is looks and plays beautiful, but i still wonder why they released it when they knew no-one could play it at the time ... even 4 years on.
