Around 4-5 months ago i overclocked my 955 from 3.2Ghz to 3.62Ghz with stock V from Bios. Then Using AMD overdrive i stress tested the Oc for around an hour and all went fine with temps getting to around 56c to 58c. Anyway I recently bought some new thermal grease from OC :D along with some other things that could get the temps down enough for me to squeeze a few extra Mhz out of it. I decided today to run an hour long stress test with prime95 and 'core temps' Just to take notes of the temps now and in a few days when i apply the new grease, fans etc. After around 8 mins the pc crashed and turned off.. :/ The temps got upto 59-61 with prime95.
I mostly use my pc for gaming and have played some of the more cpu demanding games in the last 4 months without 1 problem :( Should i reset the OC and just be happy with the 3.2? dont wana do any damage to the cpu :/

Cant see a problem with you overclocking it everyone here does so get that OC on, seems weird that it crashed and turned off would guess that theres a problem else were or your chip is very Vcore sensitive.

Firstly i would get the new cooler and paste on and see how it is then.

Which motherboard? Reset the bios to defaults and save and exit. Then redo your overclock.

Its a GA-Ma790fxt-UD5P was the best motherboard out for oc'ing (when i upgraded) :( im REALLY tempted to get a i7 920 :'( seems easier to overclock..just cant afford £400 for a new mobo + i7 :'( lol

P.s off topic but is it okay to ask on these forums about how much id get for selling My hardware 2nd hand? I seem to remember hearing you cant do it. :(

*cries* i just found a Intel Core i7 920 "D0" + Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Bundleon a diffrent site :'( Dam not having ANY money :( lol
