old pc games graphics run weird on my machine

hey guys

i decided to play the old command & conquer red alert 1 today, and every time i run the game all the colours and pictures are not coloured properly and makes it hard to see

it also happens on the units and buildings health bars

my machine spec is

i5 760 @2.8ghz
msi p55 gd80
12gb corsair xms3 1600mhz
asus gtx 480 at standard speeds
seagate barracuda 1tb hdd
antec 750w true power psu
antec h620 cpu cooler

what could it be and how do i solve this ?? thanks a lot

Try disabling explorer.exe before you load the game. You will have to start the game via Task Manager, but it should solve the issue. I have it on AoE1, AoE2 and Diablo.

I had that problem and the action that fixes it seems absolutely ridiculous, but it works:
On the windows desktop, just open the window where you can adjust the resolution and leave it open there without adjusting anything. Then start the game.
I use this with Dungeon Keeper, C&C, Fallout 1 and 2, and several others.
