Sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

Ok, I was bored so I thought about loading The Sims onto my PC. However, when I click install it comes up with the following error message:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

Is it not possible to run older games on a new PC or is there somewhere that I can change my settings so that it will load?

Not sure if it applies to your PC but most older games (older than the Sims) run using DosBox.

You could try compatibility mode on Windows XP but I'd just look for the latest patch.

Should be in \Windows\System32

Make sure you've got "Hide extensions for known file types", "Hide Operating System Files" and "Hide Hidden Files" in Folder Options switched off or it'll obviously hide them from you!:)

Ok, I've downloaded DosBox and that didn't work.

I've tried to follow the steps further down on to the step where it says to open c:\windows\repair and then copy the autoexec.nt file. When I open the c:\windows\repair file all I get is a file that says ' system.bak'. Any idea what that is?

I love you! :)

I spent hours trying to work through the steps on that microsoft website but to no avail. I searched different websites suggesting different things but nothing worked.

Then you give me a file that takes about 3 seconds to load and it works! I really do love you! (in a non-gay kind of way).

Sims and Theme Hospital here I come!!!!!!!!!!
