Got an old PC with a MSI H61M-P31 (G3) Socket 1155 Micro ATX Motherboard.

Currently installed Pentium G850 and 4GB.

I want to upgrade the CPU and memory.

Would a used Intel Core i5-2500S SR009 Quad-Core 2.7GHz/6M Socket LGA1155 Processor CPU be ok? I've seen one for £15 on the bay.

depending where you look you can obtain some of the i7's which would be better especially if you do any sort of gaming. mean ive upgrade an i3 2100 to a i5 2400 and noticed a big difference, but it doesnt support higher chips, but all the same its better to get the best still

Which is better?

Core i5 Ivy Bridge i5-3330

Or

Core i5 Sandy Bridge i5-2500S

Both are around £15 -£20

PC will be plugged into a TV and only used for watching movies and web browsing

The ivy bridge is slightly faster but only by a couple of % and the difference wouldn't really be noticeable.
