Im currently making a computer out of old parts, that im going to use as a fileserver/mediaplayer.

Ive got:

Motherboard - MS6191
CPU - AMD K7 600mhz
Graphics: Nvidia fx5200 128mb
HD: 120gb
Ram: 128mb

i will also be buying a wireless card.

What i want to know is. What is the lowest power PSU i can use with these parts.

Will a 120w picoPSU be ok, or do i need more power for this old system?
the reason i want the picoPSU is because its tiny and it will save room, but if i need more power i will have to get a bigger size psu.

Im going to say something a bit higher than that, purely for stabilty under full load and stress. Maybe something like a 250w would be ample im sure.

I've used a 150W power supply on a 2.4Ghz Celeron system/512MB RAM... I'd hazard a guess that it would be fine.

hmmm, mixed opinions.

Well, i dont think it will ever be on full load, as it is not going to be used for any applications other than a media player and file sharing.

ooh decisions. i might just get a really cheap psu off fleabay.

My recommendation: Try it out. If it works (stable etc), great, if not, then buy a new PSU.

One area I think is lacking in OcUK's product range is cheap PSUs - they all cost over £30. I placed an order here this weekend but they missed out on my business PSU wise because you can get Hiper 350W psus for £12inc.

OK so no one is gonna buy one for a serious rig, but I'm fixing a Celeron system for someone where the psu is knackered and it doesn't need anything fancy.
