Hi just a quick question, I pulled an old rig from storage to be used as a downloading rig. Had to replace the graphics card so picked up a cheap AGP 3650 from the bay. Just tried connecting it to tv ( 40" sony bravia w5810) via dvi - hdmi adapter and hdmi cable. I understand its an ancient machine but thought at least it would be able to display correctly, its unbelievably poor, screens take an age to refresh, lots of shearing etc. Is this normal?

spec; (dont laugh)
AMD Athlon XP 2600+
MSI motherboard (MS-6729 I think)
Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3650 8x AGP (dvi and vga outputs)
1.5gb ram ?unknown manufacturer
WinXP home 32bit

Any thoughts as to why this is? I would have thought the graphics card would have taken a lot of the work off the cpu?

Works completely fine with a 19" monitor at 1400x900?

I had the 3650 AGP and it worked fine with my monitor on 1920 x 1200 (24") using a 3800+ and ddr memory. It could be the software driver, or the cable with adaptor.

Firstly apologies for raising an old thread but I have managed to sort it after much messing around. Thought I'd just post on what worked for me as it may help others. Uninstalled all ATI drivers and catalyst control center, ran ccleaner, downloaded and installed ATI catalyst center v9.4. Download sapphire hotfix driver for v9.4. Restart between each step. Nice and smooth when opening/closing windows on 40 inch lcd at 1920x1080 via hdmi/dvi. Using as HTPC and dedicated downloading rig.
