So i have an old PC i was trying to get working. Specs:

Core2Duo e6600
EVGA 680i motherboard
8800GTS 640mb
4gb DDR2

So i power it up and get one long beep followed by the LED error code 41 (motherboard error display) and continual short beeps.

Has anyone got any idea what this means as I cant seem to find much.

Its weird because it was powered on and fine for years, i then replaced it with a laptop and now 2 years later it wont boot, nothing has touched it. I will remove the ram/gfx today and reseat them but i doubt its that.

Who is the manufacturer of the mother board? Search online about the beeps on booting with the specific mother board name (not necessarily model name). There are a list of errors with the way it beeps.

Good luck

Have you tried replacing the cmos batt? I had this type of thing with an old pc that had sat for years unused, checked ram etc and it turned out to be just the battery.

From the online manuals, it looks like code 41 is "reserved" as in it doesn't have a fault assigned to it.

It could be a dead battery, so I'd start with that.

I'd also mess around moving the RAM between slots and making sure everything is plugged in correctly.
