old pci cards

ok my friend needs one of these, what's the best one about and is it capable of playing css?

btw i know it's awful...but he won't upgrade....tight ******!!!

TBH, if his system is so old he doesnt even have an AGP motherboard, he can forget source.

FX 5500 was the best nvidia did on pci bus, he has no hope of playin source on pci card tbh

What is the rest of his specification like? For reference ATI did release a 9600 series card on PCI, which I believe was the best ever released but it is very very rare and only available secondhand anyway.

not brillant, but have played source on a ATI PCI 9250, with a Celeron :eek:

2.6 and managed to get around 30 fps on source at 800x600 - could be better but it doesnt matter for the odd game.

Edit- In Fact Trying the Cs Stress Test just now i got 47.25 fps
