Hi Guys,

I have the following at the moment:

Asus a8n-sli deluxe
AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core - think its a 4800+
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel

I have just bought a BFG8800GT to replace my 2 7800GTs and am now thinking that I should update my kit to do it justice.

I have been out of the hardware scene for about a year now and am confused by all the memory types out there.

I am thinking of upgrading to an Intel E6600 or a Q6600 and a new Mobo to go with it. My questions are, will I have to get new ram or will the 3200 work in it (though cripple it) until I can afford better?

I think that will be fine for a while yet.. I've had a 4400+, same mobo and a 8800gtx and this was running BioShock at 1920x1200 on all high settings.

However, my CPU went poop so I upgraded anyway.

there is no point with ram soooo cheap having ram that old and slow with a quad core and a 8800, you will have a huge bottleneck there.

and if you get a new mobo you are probally going to have to go ddr2 anyway for a lga775 socket board anyway :)
