old s939 chips?

looking to get my dad a 2nd hand s939 cpu which will probably be ran at stock for a while to come yet, and have had a couple of offers from people on these forums offering some of the older newcastle/winnie cores, was just wondering if there were any glaring issues with these chips and what they were like in comparison to the newer venice cores?

for info been offered a 3200 winnie retail for £75 inc and a 3500 newcastle for £95 inc, asked to make sure that the chips were both s939 and the sellers say that they are.

they dont clock aswell generally and the newcastles run hotter

Yeah prices are a bit high when you can get a 3000 venice for £100 new.

Depends how it clocks, if it will do 2.8ghz youl get more than one that conks out at 2.2

If it did 2.8GHz I probs wouldn't be on a dual core yet, but you never know.
It topped out at 2.4Gig, I'd be happy with £60 I gues, its just sat in a box under my bed collecting dust (metaphorically)
