Figured it be good to upgrade the ram on my mums old pc its a desktop tiny branded one.
It had 32mb in before. Had 3 slots so tried the new sticks in the 2 spare. All that was coming up was that they were 64mb sticks. (one slot on mb was dodgy reporting the sticks as 32mb or some crap so just slot 1 and 2 were reporting 64mb per stick.
Anyone i doubt it would be a incompatability otherwise it just wouldnt work at all. The ram has just the chips on the one side of the stick dont think that matters but thought id mention it.
Its a tiny branded p1 mmx 233mhz pc btw. Was running win 98se. After i stuck the new ram in i upgraded to xp, actually worked but took 2 hrs to install lol. Its only so she can get orange dongle internet as min req says xp so got xp for it.
Anyhow. So i have in the comp 2x 64mb sticks when they should be 2x128mb sticks. Told seller he was shocked as no complaints and sold loads of em (checked feedback he was right).
So you think it was the pc's fault, maybe it cant take 128mb sticks (first i heard of this if true) or was it the sticks fault, or the seller selling not as described sticks? I contacted seller he was shocked as i said before but did offer to send some new sticks out i said ok but cant send the old ones back cos it would cost more to fetch and send off, i.e 3.60 or somit for a day buspass and say 80p for delivery vs the £1 i bought it for.
So what do u guys think thats happened?
