Old Skooler needs help

Hi there

Been out of the game for some time however would like to get back into some online gaming with some old titles like BF3/BF4, CS, WoT and a few other things


My old rig consists of (don’t laugh, I have been out of the loop for a while!!)

I7 4670 @4.5Ghz

8GB Corsair vengeance @ 1800Mhz

Asus Maximus VI Impact Motherboard Z87

256GB Samsung SSD

No GPU


I also have a Asus Predator 144Mhz Monitor


So my question is what cheap GPU should I be looking at. Ideally my max budget is £100 -£150 as I not doing competitive gaming like I use to in my younger days, more for a bit of fun in the dark winter nights.


Obviously I would like to take advantage of the Freesync 144Hhz option however I understand that a budget card will not allow me to make the most of the full 144mhz


So what should I be looking at guys

That CPU is still very capable see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dn9EMlxdCrM for performance comparisons (thanks to Intels 'upgrade' cycle). For that budget, the only real option is an AMD RX570, and that is at the top end of that budget on offers, otherwise its a GTX1050 I would think.

If you don't mind buying used then an 8GB RX480/580 will be well within your budget.

AMD RX 570-8GB is the best but little bit costlier than your budget it is around 197.62$ but it will keep you at the pinnacle of gaming.
